On August 29, 2024 Shangyu District Hazardous Chemical Emergency Drill and Shangyu Hangzhou Bay Economic Development Area Flood and Typhoon Control Emergency Drill was held successfully. The drill focused on actual combat and synergy, covering a number of different scenarios such as consultation and judgment, seapond rescue, disposal of hazardous chemicals, evacuation of enterprise personnel and so on, and realized synergistic operations in multiple fields. The emergency rescue process was not only well-organized and closely connected, but also cooperated with tacit understanding, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.

Among them, the emergency rescue of hazardous chemical warehouses was conducted in Shaoxing Shangyu Haocaiyuan New Material Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned company of Yongtaiyun. The company has a total of five hazardous chemical warehouses, including one calcium carbide warehouse, divided into three fire compartments. With a total area of 1444 square meters and a maximum storage capacity of 120 tons, the company constitutes a Class IV major source of danger and is a key protection target during the flood season.

The drill simulated a violent reaction to water entering the calcium carbide warehouse and causing a fire and people trapped. Immediately thereafter, firefighters used a boarding truck to hang a rain cover to prevent the danger from expanding, and carried out search and rescue of trapped people and fire extinguishing. Departments did their best to implement meteorological warnings, environmental detection, traffic control, evacuation of people and treatment of the injured.

After the drill, District Standing Committee, Shangyu Hangzhou Bay Economic Development Area Party Committee Secretary Sun Haiming commented on the speech, he expressed a high degree of affirmation of the drill, and put forward valuable advice. He asked to further improve the emergency awareness, not only to deepen the emergency training exercises, strengthen the emergency equipment care, but also to strengthen team cooperation, to take this drill as an opportunity to continuously improve their emergency response capabilities an professionalism, to escort the high-quality development of Shangyu Economic Development Area with a high level of safety.
